Collective Agreements and Wage Schedules

Your collective agreement is a legally binding contract that covers all aspects of your working life. It is the most powerful tool you have when it comes to defending your rights and protecting you from unfair treatment in the workplace.

Public-sector agreements

Most HEU members are covered by one of four collective agreements in the public sector.

About 35,000 HEU members work in publicly funded acute care hospitals and long-term care homes. They work in more than 270 job categories in every area of health care.

About 1,400 HEU members work for publicly funded community health agencies providing care to people with a broad range of physical and mental health needs, in their own homes or in other community-based facilities.

About 1,400 HEU members work for publicly funded community social services agencies providing residential and community-based support services to people with developmental disabilities, women and children, and First Nations clients.

Private-sector agreements

About 4,000 HEU members work for private-sector employers in publicly funded acute care hospitals and long-term care homes, as well as privately operated facilities. If you work in one of the following, please contact your servicing representative for a copy of your current collective agreement.
